Requirements:
Goal: ntroducing students to the concept and basic concepts, dimensions and specificities of traffic and transport, as well as to the trends in the development of traffic and transport systems depending on changes in the environment. Mastering the relevant basic concepts in the field of postal traffic and elements of its infrastructure.
Outcome: After finishing the course, students should be able to define and describe the multidimensional concept of the traffic system, its elements and subsystems, compare different modes of transport, define the place of the postal system within the traffic system, as well as its place on the market and explain the specificities of the postal network compared to other networks.
Contents of the course
Theoretical instruction:
  1. Transportation production and transportation services
  2. Conditions of occurrence and development of traffic.
  3. Traffic system and subsystems: concept and dimensions.
  4. Characteristics / performance of certain types of traffic.
  5. New concepts of traffic, transport and communication.
  6. Traffic and environment: development factors and functioning effects.
  7. Postal traffic as a spatial-transport complex system and as a factor in the development of society and economy.
  8. Liberalization of the postal market.
  9. Universal postal service
  10. Specificities of the organization and functioning of postal traffic and postal network
Practical instruction (Problem solving sessions/Lab work/Practical training):
  1. Seminar work
  2. Discussion through the analysis of case studies on different topics
  3. Workshops during the exercises - students are trained to use literature and relevant data sources in the significant field
  4. Students create / analyze simple graphic representations and PP presentations
