Requirements:
Goal: Introducing the students to the basic applications of work study in the production process as the foundation of more efficient work. Mastering the principles of choosing the appropriate work methods and methods for determining production targets.
Outcome: Upon passing the exam, the students will be able to: analyze work stations, worker's motions, and the flow of material; apply the most appropriate work method; define production targets and suggest savings; analyze the realization of the technology process; shape the work station ergonomically; apply contemporary methods for organizing the production.
Contents of the course
Theoretical instruction:

  2. Development of work study as a discipline.
  3. Motion study.
  4. Time study. Production targets.
  5. Time measuring methods.
  6. The system of predetermined time standards.
  7. The system of predetermined time standards.
  8. Determining working-hour losses.

  11. Ergonomic conditions.

Practical instruction (Problem solving sessions/Lab work/Practical training):
  1. Studying work. Motion analysis. Time recording. Effort evaluation. Calculating time norms. Applying MTM. Standard lead times. Determining the level of work station openness. Analyzing working-hour losses. Work station analysis. Approaches to work design. Analysis of work stations at the sample room, sewing floor and the finishing deparment.
