Requirements:
Goal: Introducing the students to the theoretical and practical foundations necessary for understanding the techniques used in the construction of womenswear. Adopting lasting knowledge needed for mass production and individual production of womenswear.
Outcome: Outcome Upon fulfilling their pre-exam obligations and passing the exam, the students should be able to apply the obtained knowledge in the construction and making of women's garments, individually and as a part of a team.
Contents of the course
Theoretical instruction:
  1. Anthropology and anthropometry and their application in the construction of womenswear. Body proportions. The golden ratio.
  2. Apparel construction parameters. Inner and outer measurements. Key, secondary and special measurements. Standards.
  3. Basic construction of a skirt. Modeling and finishing. Straight line skirt. Flared skirt.
  4. Construction of a bell skirt, gore skirt and pleated skirt.
  5. Construction of a women's blouse.
  6. Construction of collars and sleeves for women's blouses.
  7. Construction of a dress.
  8. Construction of women's pants.
  9. Construction of women's pants with pleats; bell-shaped, low and high-cut.
  10. Construction of a women's jacket.
  11. Construction of collars and sleeves for women's jackets.
  12. Construction of the interlining and lining for jackets.
  13. Construction of a women's trenchcoat.
  14. Construction of a women's coat.
  15. Construction of garments for figures with deformities
Practical instruction (Problem solving sessions/Lab work/Practical training):
  1. Practical realization of garments following theoretical instruction.
