Requirements:
Goal: Acquiring knowledge in the field of management, a modern organizational discipline, without which the textile sector would not be able to function properly.
Outcome: Upon passing the exam, the students will be able to: describe and classify the functions of management; apply modern methods and techniques in management; analyse and make optimal managing decisions in any concrete situation which may arise in the modern business environment.
Contents of the course
Theoretical instruction:
  1. Introduction into management and product management.
  2. Defining management – term differentiation.
  3. Development of management thought.
  4. The types, basic principles and functions of management.
  5. Managers, definition and function.
  6. Planning – definition, levels, types, stages, mission, vision and goals of business.
  7. Decision-making – types and models of decision-making; the decision-making process.
  8. Organization – design, principles and the organizational structure of a company.
  9. Leading – motivation, leadership, principles, teams and teamwork, conflict management.
  10. Controlling – object, principles, process and methods, benchmarking. Strategic role of product management.
  11. The product management process.
  12. Analyzing a company's array of products.
  13. Product lifecycle and buyer lifecycle.
  14. Positioning and innovating a product that is already on the market.
Practical instruction (Problem solving sessions/Lab work/Practical training):
  1. The students are introduced to the elements of the course units through case studies and writing papers.
