Geodetic Tasks in Applied Geodesy Course code: GZPG | 12 ECTS credits

Basic information
Level of Studies: Undergraduate applied studies
Year of Study: 3
Semester: 6
Requirements: Passed exams from Engineering survey.
Goal: Training prospective engineers of applied geodesy to work independently in order to provide geodetic services to other professions (construction industry, architecture, engineering, shipbuilding, mining, energetics, forestry, agriculture, etc.).
Outcome: Through independent practical work under the guidance of tutors, students gain the necessary experience in solving specific engineering-technical tasks in the field of applied geodesy. Practical work is based on the most modern techniques of geodetic measurements and data processing.
Contents of the course
Theoretical instruction:
  1. Students’ familiarization with geodetic works in engineering practice,
  2. Overview of geodetic works related to the construction of infrastructure facilities (roads, railways, streets, municipal infrastructure, etc.),
  3. Overview of geodetic works related to urban and spatial planning,
  4. Geodetic monitoring of structure construction and other facilities (design, construction, carried out condition and registration)
  5. Specific geodetic works in the surface exploitation of mineral resources,
  6. Specific geodetic works in industry (steelwork, cement plant, power plant, etc.)
  7. Legislation.
Practical instruction (Problem solving sessions/Lab work/Practical training):
  1. Exercises, Other forms of instruction, Study research project Completion of a seminar paper from the selected engineering-technical field is carried out in computer labs, and a practical part is conducted on the field in geodetic and other enterprises.
