Practical Teaching 2 Course code: PRN2 | 4 ECTS credits

Basic information
Level of Studies: Undergraduate applied studies
Year of Study: 2
Semester: 4
Requirements:
Goal: Practical teaching 2 is performed on specially established terrain training grounds. The goal of Practical Teaching 2 is to acquaint students with the real working conditions in the terrain and to practice the procedures from areas of establishing geodetic networks, precision leveling, engineering geodesy and application of information technologies in geodesy as well as to establish a connection with the theoretical knowledge acquired in lectures and exercises. The students are espected to master the practical application of standard methods of geodetic measurements and to collect terrain data.
Outcome: By conducting Practical Teaching 2, the connection between the acquired theoretical knowledge and the performance of practical classes is achieved in the field of establishing geodetic networks, precision leveling, engineering geodesy and application of IT in geodesy.
Contents of the course
Theoretical instruction:
  1. Practical Teaching 2 is realized on specially established and arranged terrain polygons and computer classrooms, as a block of classes (all-day student activity) lasting three working weeks at the end of fourth semester. Students are divided into small working groups and each working group implements the next four tasks (4 working days each):
  2. triangulation - geodetic measurements and alignment of the free trigometric geodetic network;
  3. precise leveling;
  4. engineering geodesy;
  5. application of information technology in geodesy
  6. Each working group has a separate terrain or task, and all activities are performed under supervision and with help from teachers, associates and demonstrators. Terrain works are performed in accordance with the plan, prepared in advance. All students equally participate in the work and practice all planned work operations.
