Practical Teaching 1 Course code: PRN1 | 4 ECTS credits

Basic information
Level of Studies: Undergraduate applied studies
Year of Study: 1
Semester: 2
Requirements:
Goal: Practical teaching 1 is performed on specially established terrain training grounds. The goal of Practical Teaching1 is to acquaint students with the real working conditions on the terrain and practice the procedures from areas of geodetic survey, as well as to establish a connection with the theoretical knowledge acquired in lectures and exercises. The students are espected to master the practical application of standard methods of geodetic measurements and to collect terrain data.
Outcome: By conducting Practical classes 1, the acquired theoretical knowledge and performance of all procedures and operations in the field of geodetic surveying are connected, as well as acquiring the necessary knowledge and skills for application of all standard methods of geodetic measurements.
Contents of the course
Theoretical instruction:
  1. Practical classes 1 are realized on specially established and arranged terrain polygons, as a block classes (full-time student activity) lasting three working weeks at the end of the second semester. Students are divided into small working groups, where each working group implements the following planned tasks:
  2. preparatory works for geodetic survey;
  3. terrain reconnaissance and detection of geodetic network points;
  4. geodetic measurements in a polygon: angle measurement (classical theodolite and total station), length measurement (total station), altitude measurement (geometric leveling);
  5. processing of measured data and determination of coordinates of points in the polygon,
  6. forming sketches for geodetic survey;
  7. sketching the terrain for geodetic surveying;
  8. geodetic survey of details by the polar method (tachymetric survey);
  9. introduction to available methods of geodetic surveying (orthogonal method and GPS method);
  10. introduction to modern geodetic measuring equipment and technologies (presentations of eminent distributors of geodetic equipment and technology);
  11. preparation of elaborate of geodetic survey.
  12. Each working group has a separate terrain training ground, and all activities are performed under supervision and with assistance of teachers, associates and demonstrators. Terrain works are performed in accordance with the plan prepared in advance. All students equally participate in the work with the effort that everyone practices all the work operations that are planning.
