Requirements:
Goal: The objective of the course is to acquire the necessary knowledge in selected areas of computer application in order to train students to solve various assignments imposed by geodetic profession on a computer independently at the level of the first cycle of higher education professional studies.
Outcome: The subject allows students to be capable to independently process numerical and graphical assignments in geodesy, to present these data in various formats and media.
Contents of the course
Theoretical instruction:
  1. Basichardware and software components of PCs. Data organization on a PC computer. Data files. Types of data files. Directories. Organization of directories.
  2. Basic usage of graphics-oriented operating systems. Graphics-oriented systems. Operating systems from the WINDOWS family. Activating ready-made programs. Working with data files. Working with directories.
  3. Word processing programs. Introduction to functional specifications of WORD program. Laboratory training of students in using WORD programs.
  4. Using modern programs for mathematical calculations in the form of tables. Training students through work in spreadsheet programs used in construction practice (EXCEL).
  5. Computer graphics. Modern technology of electronic computer-aided drawing. Realization through its application to the formation and creation of two-dimensional technical drawings. Changes on the existing electronic drawings. Supplements to the existing drawings. Intensive practical training of students through using specific software for computer-aided drawings (CAD - Computer Aided Drafting), which are used in geodetic practice.
  6. Use of computer peripheral devices: printers, plotters, digitizers, scanners, digital cameras.
