Requirements:
Goal: The objective of this course is to introduce students to the basic elements of municipal infrastructural systems, the role of infrastructure in the development of a city, and general principles of municipal infrastructure planning and financing.
Outcome: The course provides an understanding of the process of planning, designing and construction of municipal infrastructure facilities, whether a civil engineer is directly responsible for them (hydro-technical and transport infrastructure), or he is a member of a multidisciplinary team (energy and telecommunication infrastructure, public greenery).
Contents of the course
Theoretical instruction:
  1. Concepts, definitions, classifications of infrastructure
  2. Infrastructure status
  3. Basic concepts of traffic, hydraulic engineering, energy and telecommunication systems
  4. Municipal solid waste management. Landscaping. Public city cemeteries
  5. Rehabilitation and reconstruction of municipal infrastructure. Relation of city suprastructure and infrastructure systems
  6. Planning and programming infrastructure systems construction
  7. Infrastructure financing.
Practical instruction (Problem solving sessions/Lab work/Practical training):
  1. The content of theoretical instruction transferred into practical application through exercises and practical exercises in teaching bases.
