Goal: The course Designing enables students to independently analyze natural and man-made conditions, proper selection and decision-making when setting up a project solution for different types ofbuilding construction.
Outcome: During the preparation of a semestral paper the course enables students to develop an approach to designing, principles of setting up the project task, functional, structural and design solution of a structure. A special part of the task is an approach to the method of presentation as well as the defense of the project. Through this part of the instruction students simulate an event in practice where it is necessary to defend their work in front of both, professional public and investors.
Contents of the course
Theoretical instruction:
  1. Introductory lecture
  2. Definitions, concepts and categories in dwelling
  3. Spatial levels of family dwelling: settlement, house and apartment
  4. Apartment – principles of organization, elements of a typical unit
  5. Classification and typology of houses, case analysis
  6. Spatial and sociological structure, the process of grouping, urban complex, architectural complex
  7. Elements of urban space: private and public space, pedestrian and vehicular traffic
  8. Facilities for upbringing, education, child care and elderly people care
  9. Tourism facilities
  10. Administrative buildings
  11. Health care facilities
  12. Facilities of trade services–the problems of city centers
