Requirements:
Goal: The aim of the course is to introduce to students the basic requirements of the cargo market flows in terms of the application of intermodal transport technologies. Introducing students to new concepts of transport technologies and their connection with logistics systems, road and rail transport.
Outcome: Upon completion of the course the student will be able to:
• define the segments of the intermodal transport market,
• independently develops the technological process of operation of intermodal transport terminals and works on the quality system in logistics sectors,
• uses quality models and methods,
• identify and apply an appropriate method for measuring the efficiency of the logistics system.

Contents of the course
Theoretical instruction:
  1. Intermodal transport market segmentation.
  2. New generations of intermodal transport networks.
  3. Intermodal transport freight trains.
  4. International Union of combined Road-Rail transport companies
  5. Intermodal transport operators.
  6. Innovative technologies of railway freight transport.
  7. SWOT analysis of transport technologies.
  8. Implementation of logistics strategies in transport technologies.
  9. Different logistic concepts related to information management.
  10. Quality performance, models and methods for measuring the quality of transport technologies.
  11. Measuring the efficiency of logistics systems.
Practical instruction (Problem solving sessions/Lab work/Practical training):
  1. 1. Examples and characteristics of intermodal transport terminals.
2. Models for measuring the efficiency of logistics systems. 
3. Introduction to softwares for managing the operation of intermodal terminals.
4. Visiting and practical introduction to the work of the container terminal and various operators in the field of logistics. 
5. Defining the elements for the seminary work.
