Requirements:
Goal: The aim of the course is to acquire appropriate theoretical and practical knowledge to students about technological tasks and technological working process of logistics centers, and to get acquainted with optimization models of logistics chains, layout design, planning and design of logistics centers.
Outcome: Upon completing the program students will be able to:
• recognize and define various different logistics centers,
• quantify the requirements and dimension the subsystems of logistics centers,
• defining and properly structuring the criteria for choosing the location of the logistics center,
• create the layout of a logical center.

Contents of the course
Theoretical instruction:
  1. Logistics center as special type of transport center.
  2. Basic structure, technological characteristics, development and activities of logistics centers.
  3. Gravity zone of logistic center.
  4. Most important tasks of logistics centers.
  5. Type of services in logistics centers.
  6. Organization and management of services in logistics centers.
  7. New generations of intermodal transport networks and terminals.
  8. Models of logistics chain optimization in the network of freight transport centers.
  9. Production of layouts, planning and design of logistics centers.
Practical instruction (Problem solving sessions/Lab work/Practical training):
  1. 1. Examples of logistics centers (micro and macro location, creating layout, feasibility studies).
2. Integrated concept of free zone and logistics center.
3. Defining the elements for the seminary work.
