Requirements: Knowledge of drawing, painting, theory of design and form, fashion design.
Goal: Perfecting the techniques of artistic representation of the human figure, clothing and accessories in fashion.
Outcome: Upon fulfilling their pre-exam obligations and passing the exam, the students should have developed a higher level of individuality in their personal artistic expression.
Contents of the course
Theoretical instruction:
  1. Fashion illustration, its beginnings and development.
  2. Analysis of the proportions of the male, female and a child's figure.
  3. Different ways of transposing and stylizing the human figure.
  4. Fashion drawing. Different trends in fashion drawing.
  5. Expression techniques in fashion ilustration.
  6. Applying different techniques in the fashion drawing.
  7. Different trends in fashion illustration; the use of computer programs.
  8. Portrait study and its transposition into the fashion drawing.
  9. Analysis of draping; draping as an important element of the fashion drawing.
  10. Footwear, accessories.
  11. Style unity of clothing, footwear and accessories.
  12. Authentic artistic expression in fashion illustration.
  13. Artistic presentation of a fashion collection.
  14. Creating a portfolio.
Practical instruction (Problem solving sessions/Lab work/Practical training):
  1. Drawing a female/male/child's fashion figure according to a fashion photography (techniques – pencil and ink). Stylization of a human figure, transposition into a fashion drawing and the creation of fashion sketches. Creation of fashion drawings using different techniques. Creating fashion drawings-illustrations depicting different kinds of knitwear and fabric, of fabric patterns and textures, and of different styles of footwear. Using croquis to create drawings of accessories. Creating illustrations using computer programs (Photoshop, Illustrator...). Creating illustrations for a fashion collection applying the principle of style unity between the idea and artistic expression; creating a portfolio.
