Requirements:
Goal: The aim of the course is for students to acquire knowledge in the field of organization and exploitation of traffic, application adequate mathematical methods in solving problems in the field of railway and road transport as well as the application of techno-economic calculations for the assessment of investments in traffic project.
Outcome: Upon completion of the course the students will be able to understand the principles of techno-economic analysis in traffic. Formulates and solves real problems in the domain of determining demand, to set and solve various problems in which decisions are made based on the consideration of several criteria at the same time. Understands and describes the basic methods of network planning for solving the problem of organization and operation of railway and road traffic. Understand the essence of rational and efficient organization and operation of traffic and to quantify, it as well as to monitor and quantify train costs. Understands and uses the Network Statement.
Contents of the course
Theoretical instruction:
  1. Techno-economic calculations in railway exploitation
  2. Techno-economic evaluation and evaluation of investment projects on railways
  3. Assessment of the justification of the realization of the investment project
  4. Network statement
  5. Principles of calculation of compensation of costs for the use of railway infrastructure
  6. Application of multicriteria decision making methods in traffic
  7. Application of network planning methods in traffic (CPM, PERT, PERT-COST).
Practical instruction (Problem solving sessions/Lab work/Practical training):
  1. 1. Practical classes envisage to gain basic techniques in the field of techno-economic evaluation and assessment of the justification of the realization of the investment project. 
2. Problem solving and practical application of multicriteria decision making methods and network planning.
