Requirements:
Goal: Introducing students to the performance of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) used to support control, management and safe operation systems.
Outcome: Students have acquired professional knowledge of the concepts and definitions of intelligent transport systems, performance of intelligent transport systems (ITS) used to support control, management and safe operation systems., current case studies, apply the acquired knowledge in practice
Contents of the course
Theoretical instruction:
  1. Intelligent transport systems - Introduction
  2. Basic models and ITS
  3. ITS system architecture
  4. Traffic management - traffic distribution and ITS application.
  5. Systems for safe traffic.
  6. Sensory and ad-hoc traffic monitoring and regulation networks, vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) communications.
Practical instruction (Problem solving sessions/Lab work/Practical training):
  1. 1. Location and navigation systems. 
2. Electronic billing systems.
3. Application of public broadcasting systems (RDS, DAB) in traffic.
4. Use of public fixed and mobile networks in road traffic.
5. Consideration of characteristic and current case studies.
