Requirements:
Goal: Acquiring appropriate theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of shipping, forwarding, and custums formalities. Understanding the role and importance of international freight forwarding for the economic system of the country. Acquiring knowledge and skills for performing freight forwarding services.
Outcome: Students will be able to perform jobs of forwarding and shipping, understand customs formalities, and apply knowledge of customs regulations.
Contents of the course
Theoretical instruction:
  1. The significance of freight forwarding and shipping
  2. The role of freight forwarders in freight flows.
  3. Associations and unions for the promotion and development of freight forwarding.
  4. Internal organization of freight forwarding companies.
  5. Freight forwarding services (contracting, organization of shipment, payment, insurance, freight forwarding calculations, etc.)
  6. Technology of forwarding operations during import, export, transit of goods, and technology of forwarding operations of special shipments.
  7. Information flows (documentations, etc.) in the organisation and realisation of goods flows.
  8. Customs operations
  9. Transportation insurance
Practical instruction (Problem solving sessions/Lab work/Practical training):
  1. Practical instruction is followed by a lecture program. Presentation of practical examples of freight forwarding contracts, FIATA documents, single customs documents, insurance policies. Preparation, and presentation of a seminar paper, visit a shipping company.
