Requirements:
Goal: Students will get acquainted and learn the basic methods of signal processing - continuous and coded modulation - through application in multiplex transmission, illustrated by systems from HF telephony to GSM.
Outcome: With the acquired knowledge, the student masters the principles of both classical and modern telecommunications, he is capable to be directly involved in training to work on specific systems.
Contents of the course
Theoretical instruction:
  1. Continuous modulation
  2. Transposition in the transposed range
  3. FM features
  4. FDM concept
  5. HF multi-channel telephone transmission
  6. Coded modulation
  7. TDM concept
  8. Multiplexes in DECT and GSM
  9. Channel types: FDM, TDM, logical (E-1 and GSM)
  10. Digital modulation
  11. Elementary signals and constellation diagrams
  12. Modem transmission
  13. Telephone network hierarchy
Practical instruction (Problem solving sessions/Lab work/Practical training):
  1. Examples are analyzed in auditory, demonstration and discussion exercises, problem tasks from theoretical teaching items.
