Requirements:
Goal: The aim of the course is for students to acquire basic knowledge in the field of computer technology, computer systems, business computer applications and to be able to use computers independently.
Outcome: After mastering the provided material, the student understands the basic principles of computer operation and is familiar with the operation of basic hardware components, databases, information systems, and be able to independently uses e-mail, internet. Students have mastered application software, they can independently create textual, tabular, diagrammatic representations and make presentations. By acquiring knowledge and skills, the student can apply knowledge in further education and easily accepts knowledge from professional and applied subjects based on the use of computers.
Contents of the course
Theoretical instruction:
  1. The concept, history, and application of computers and information technology
  2. Hardware: basics of hardware inside a computer: processor, processor architecture, buses, speed processor, and clock speed
  3. Software: system and application software
  4. Data organization (physical and logical)
  5. Computer networks: basic concepts, types, and characteristics
  6. Security and protection of computer systems
Practical instruction (Problem solving sessions/Lab work/Practical training):
  1. 1. Basic computer techniques, hardware components, operating systems, basic setup computers, hardware, and software installation, numerous systems 2. Word processing software: insert, copy text, format characters, paragraphs, tabs, numbering, columns, table, pictures, formulas, prepress 3. Spreadsheet software: cell formatting, absolute and relative addressing, application formula and function, linking worksheets 4. Software for creating presentations: setting up the desktop, creating a presentation, inserting images, sound, animation of objects.
