Requirements:
Goal: Acquiring basic knowledge about the importance and role of information and communication technologies and information systems and their use in modern traffic and transport systems. Introducing students to new computer technologies used in modern business, especially in railway traffic.
Outcome: The student has mastered theoretical and practical knowledge about the role of information and communication technologies and information systems in modern traffic systems, as well as the specifics of information systems in traffic, transport and logistics. The student has acquired the acquired knowledge and skills for the realization of engineering jobs in the field of traffic.
Contents of the course
Theoretical instruction:
  1. Use of information and communication technologies in traffic (intelligent transport systems - ITS)
  2. Scope of ITS: automatic traffic management
  3. New railway technologies (large railway undertakings, high-speed lines, high-speed trains, levitation trains, city subways - metro)
  4. New computer technologies (types of computers, servers, workstations, server farms, server virtualization, grid computing, service computing, edge computing, autonomous computing, computer nanotechnologies, RS computers, mobile computers).
  5. New hardware technologies (microprocessors, memories, input-output devices, communication units).
  6. New software technologies (system software, operating systems, system utilities, application software, open source software, programming languages)
  7. New communication technologies (communication channels, wired technology, wireless technologies, network devices, computer networks, mobile telephony).
  8. Internet technologies (development, basics, architecture, connectivity, providers, protocols, addressing, routing, domains, services, browsers, security, future of the Internet).
  9. Electronic business (e-business models, e-business, e-commerce, e-banking, e-government, e-labor market, e-tourism, e-advertising, ethical issues of e-business)
  10. Mobile business (models of m-business, m-business, m-trade, m-banking, m-administration, m-labor market, m-advertising, m-applications, ethical issues of m-business).
  11. Application of new computer technologies on Serbian Railways (hardware, software, computer network, information systems, electronic business, mobile business).
  12. Application of new technologies with the aim of reducing congestion, costs, increasing safety levels and reducing the negative impacts of traffic, especially railway traffic on the environment
  13. Computer technologies in the field of electronic payments related to transport, safety of persons in road traffic, as well as monitoring of weather conditions and the environment.
Practical instruction (Problem solving sessions/Lab work/Practical training):
  1. 1. Passenger traffic: ticket sales and seat reservations, via the Internet and timetable information, via the Internet and mobile phones. 2. Freight traffic: filling in the electronic consignment note, via the Internet and information on the position of freight cars, via the Internet and mobile phones.
