Requirements:
Basic knowledge of world and national history of art
Goal:
Introducing the students to the teaching contents, theories, terminology and methodology of studying the history of art; introducing them to the visual art of painting, its basic characteristics and the media of its presentation; understanding the stages of development of the history of art, style characteristics, leading movements and art works since prehistoric times to this day.
Outcome:
After passing the exam, the students will be able to describe and explain the development of world and national art in different stages, styles and movements; to understand and describe the complexity and ontological values of art in all its layers and structures; to apply the gained knowledge in their chosen profession.
Contents of the course
Theoretical instruction:
- Prehistoric art in Europe and the central Balkans.
- Art of the Middle East: Mesopotamia, Sumer, Assyria, Persia, Ancient Egypt.
- Archaic (Aegean, Cretan and Mycenean) and Ancient Greek (classical, hellenistic) art.
- Etruscan and Ancient Roman art.
- Early Christian and Byzantine art.
- Islamic, Carolingian and Ottonian art.
- Romanesque and Gothic art.
- Medieval Serbian art (Raška, Serbian-Byzantine and Moravian art).
- Renaissance in Italy and Northern Europe
- Mannerism.
- Baroque art, baroque in Serbian art.
- Classicism, romanticism, realism in European and Serbian art.
- Modern art.
