Requirements:
Goal: Mastering the necessary knowledge to properly understand the process of design, calculation and construction, load-bearing structures in mechanical engineering and construction.
Outcome: Students are able to understand the basic elements of metal structures common in practice, participate in the design and construction of constructional and metal structures.
Contents of the course
Theoretical instruction:
  1. Introduction to the course.
  2. Forms of metal products
  3. Means for connecting structural parts
  4. Calculation and construction of extensions
  5. Calculation and construction of the connection
  6. Dimensioning and construction of rods
  7. Dimensioning and construction of girders
Practical instruction (Problem solving sessions/Lab work/Practical training):
  1. Classroom exercises: Solving tasks in accordance with the material in lectures and making independent assignments in the form of homework.
