Requirements:
Goal: Teaching students to manage: railway services, prices, products, capacity, promotion and tourism services.
Outcome: Practical ability of students to manage marketing operations.
Contents of the course
Theoretical instruction:
  1. Managing railway services: notion, specificities, quality, development planning, service programme and ecological marketing.
  2. Managing railway revenue and capacity.
  3. Distribution management: sales channels and modernization of selling railway services of passenger and freight transport.
  4. Promotion management: role of promotion, media and means of propaganda, studying the effects of railway promotion.
  5. Interdependence of railways and tourism: characteristics, elements, influential factors and specificities of tourism market
  6. Marketing management in tourism: research, planning and definition of a tourism product, prices, sales channels and promotion
  7. Cooperation of railways with other travel agencies.
Practical instruction (Problem solving sessions/Lab work/Practical training):
  1. 1. Examples of studying and determining individual elements of the marketing mix, effects of applied methods and assessments of analysed indicators. 2. Examples of preparing organizational and programming schemes for managing marketing operations.
