Requirements:
Goal: Mastering the latest theoretical and practical knowledge, methods and information related to the application of the tariff system on the railway and training for analysis and evaluation of the place, possibilities and role of the railway in the transport market.
Outcome: The student is able to: • define the conditions of the external environment and the internal conditions of the system that determine the position of the railway on the transport market and its further perspectives; • define the parameters and their impact on the formation of prices in goods traffic; • understand and apply new technological concepts of transport of goods by rail as well as the process of restructuring the railway system with the consequences and changes expected in the railway market of transport of goods.
Contents of the course
Theoretical instruction:
  1. Forecasting the transport of goods by rail
  2. Quality parameters of rail freight transport
  3. Information and information systems in the transport of goods by rail
  4. Modern tariff theory, tariff systems and tariff principles
  5. Construction of tariff tables according to commodity tariffs in domestic and international traffic
  6. New approaches to railway infrastructure allocation
  7. The concept and models of fees for the use of railway infrastructure.
Practical instruction (Problem solving sessions/Lab work/Practical training):
  1. 1. Application of commodity tariffs by construction of tariff tables in domestic and international goods traffic. 2. Examples of calculating infrastructure charges for selected countries. 3. Examples of models of organization of railway companies for transport of goods.
