Requirements:
Goal: To gain knowledge about structural elements of railway stations, main principles for design stations, and methods for station capacity calculation.
Outcome: Students will be able to apply the acquired knowledge in the field of analysis of structural elements of railway stations as well as the calculation of station capacity.
Contents of the course
Theoretical instruction:
  1. Railway station classification
  2. Structural elements of railway stations
  3. Main principles for railway station design
  4. Methods for station capacity calculation
  5. Capacity and design analysis of intermediate stations on single and double track railways
  6. Capacity and design analysis of marshaling yards with capacity calculation
  7. Capacity and design analysis of passenger and technical passenger stations with capacity calculation.
  8. Freight stations
  9. Structural elements analysis of railway junctions.
Practical instruction (Problem solving sessions/Lab work/Practical training):
  1. 1. Elements and construction of switches and crossings. 2. Development of tasks in the field of capacity calculation in stations. 3. Preparation of intermediate station study.
