Requirements:
Goal: Acquiring knowledge about digital electronic circuits and assemblies, their properties, and their applications. Training for work analysis and design of simpler digital electronic circuits.
Outcome: The student understood and knows the principles of operation of the basic structures of combinational and sequential digital circuits and mastered the techniques for analysis and synthesis of digital electronics circuits. He is qualified to design new and exploit existing systems. It has adopted and applies the principles for analog/digital and digital/analog signal conversion.
Contents of the course
Theoretical instruction:
  1. Numerous systems and codes, elements of Boolean algebra, analysis and synthesis of Boolean functions
  2. Logically elements
  3. RC wheel
  4. Combination networks - encoder, decoder, multiplexer, demultiplexer
  5. Registers - serial, parallel, shifting, circular
  6. Counters
  7. Arithmetic circuit - universal comparator, semi-adder, and complete adder
  8. Monostable and astable multivibrators
  9. Memory, ROM (PROM, EPROM, EEPROM), PAL, LCA
  10. Sequential electronic circuits, microcontrollers, and PLC processors
Practical instruction (Problem solving sessions/Lab work/Practical training):
  1. 1. Working with software packages for analyzing the operation of electronic circuits. 2. Simulation of operation of basic and complex digital electronic circuits. 3. Analysis of the functioning of flip-flops, registers, and counters. 4. Designing a synchronous counter with D flip-flops. 5. Simulation of a comparator, selector, and adder operation.
