Requirements:
Goal: To gain knowledge about the preparation and development of the timetable, procedures, and methods for calculation of the capacity and transport capacity of railway tracks, measures for their increase, as well as the organization and monitoring of work traffic operational and dispatching services.
Outcome: Student will be able to understand the basic characteristics, significance, and parameters of the timetable. Be able to independently calculate the elements of the timetable. To independently determine the capacities of railway tracks and the capacity utilization coefficient. Students will be able to work on creating a train timetable and analyzing its application.
Contents of the course
Theoretical instruction:
  1. Train traffic chart and train traffic intervals
  2. Station intervals
  3. The capacities of railways track
  4. Timetable, development of timetable and organization of traffic when creating a timetable
  5. Timetable as a technological process of railway operation
  6. Creating a timetable chart
  7. Timetable indicators and traffic charts.
Practical instruction (Problem solving sessions/Lab work/Practical training):
  1. During the exercises, a seminar paper is being done in connection with the analysis of traffic and calculation of the capacity of sections of the single-track railway. Based on the existing timetable and station schemes, the necessary ones are determined station intervals for all stations on the section, on the basis of which the capacity of the railway section is determined.
