Goal:
Acquisition of basic knowledge on traffic flow management and techniques and systems of road traffic regulation on the suburban and urban road network.
Outcome:
Students have acquired basic knowledge on the regulation, monitoring, and control of road traffic.
Contents of the course
Theoretical instruction:
- Road traffic as a subsystem of the traffic system.
- Basics of traffic flow management.
- Regulation of traffic flows.
- Traffic network, basic explanations, and division
- Road traffic regulation and control by traffic signals.
- Vertical signaling
- Horizontal signaling.
- Road traffic regulation and control with light signals.
- Centralized traffic management systems.
- Application of new technologies in traffic management.
- Vertical signaling and intelligent transport systems.
Practical instruction (Problem solving sessions/Lab work/Practical training):
- 1. Auditory and numerical exercises in the field of road traffic regulation and control. 2. Defining the elements for the seminary work.
