Requirements:
Goal: Introducing students to the place and importance of passenger transport in the urban transport system, methods of solving transport tasks, and information on the technology of passenger transport in urban areas.
Outcome: Students have acquired basic knowledge of the organization and technology of urban public passenger transport and are trained in professional planning and organization of passenger transport tasks in urban areas.
Contents of the course
Theoretical instruction:
  1. Basic concepts and elements of the urban public passenger transport system.
  2. Classification of urban public passenger transport systems.
  3. Transport networks of urban public passenger transport.
  4. Static and dynamic characteristics of the transport network of urban publicpassenger transport.
  5. Urban public passenger transport lines
  6. Timetables in urban public passenger transport.
  7. Tariff systems in urban public passenger transport
  8. Performance indicators.
  9. Urban - suburban rail systems
  10. Quality of systems and services in urban public passenger transport.
  11. Planning of the urban public passenger transport system.
  12. Improvement and development of the urban public passenger transport system.
Practical instruction (Problem solving sessions/Lab work/Practical training):
  1. 1. Auditory and numerical exercises in field of urban public passenger transport.
2. Static and dynamic characteristics of line and transport network.
3. Transport requirements and passenger flows. 
4. Methods for creating a timetable.
