Goal:
Getting to know video and film technologies and techniques of recording an electronic-digital image.
Outcome:
The student will be able to compose, expose, and record a video image.
Contents of the course
Theoretical instruction:
- Film and television concepts and terminology, historical and technological overview. Construction and operation of an electronic camera.
- Retinal Perception, Moving Image, Cinematographer.
- Management of studio TV cameras, zoom optics, lens construction, POV, camera movements and film plans.
- Film and video material, sensor, resolution and sharpness, use of the lens.
- Instruments of exponometry and colorimetry, spot metering and control of the tonal range.
- Film plans and cinematographic composition, framing, camera movements and timing.
- Digital image processing, color and tonal range correction, editing and effects.
- Light beams, light structures and lightening.
- Studio lighting - theme: speaker and model.
- Studio lighting - theme: television studio and broadcast.
- Studio lighting - theme: action and film light atmospheres.
- Studio lighting - theme: music video.
- Documentary film and documentary filming.
- Shooting in special conditions: in the air, under water, in polar and tropical conditions.
- Special movie and video effects.
Practical instruction (Problem solving sessions/Lab work/Practical training):
- Learning and handling studio cameras, devices and accessories.
- Exterior: camera handling and recording of the subject.
- Laboratory: video transfer and editing program.
- Studio: simulation of television work, live broadcast.
- Laboratory: basic assembly of realized material.

- Studio: exponometry, tonal range control and compositions of the given theme.
- Laboratory: color and tonal range control, color correction and toning.
- Studio: framing and recording a workflow with a given light atmosphere.

- Studio: illumination and recording of music video - arranged, film, with one camera.
- Exterior: recording a music video with a documentary concept.
