Requirements:
Knowing basic concepts of analog and digital image and television signals.
Goal:
Learning about the process of studio and field TV production and technologies and devices used in it.
Outcome:
Training for a job of an TV studio engineer, as well as working with devices used in studio and field TV production.
Contents of the course
Theoretical instruction:
- Introductory lecture. Technologies used in studio and field TV production.
- Media for storing video materials (video servers, tapes, discs).
- Recording and playback of video signals in different formats (SD, HD, UHD).
- TV studio. Scenography. Screenplay.
- Light sources and lighting systems (halogen, sRGB and LED).
- Television cameras. Video mixers and video effects. Electronic graphics in television.
- Technical realization of different TV forms.
- Shooting an object in a studio with a blue or green screen (chroma key).
- Post-production image processing with special effects.
- Shooting with two or more cameras in aTV system using various effects on a video mixer.
- OB vans in SD and HD format. Analysis of terrain for shooting and live transmissions.
- Live transmission simulation - shooting with 3 TV cameras using digital effects on a video mixer, text and graphics files from a computer and telephone hybrid on an audio mixer.
- Linear and non-linear editing. Timecode. Computer editing (Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere, Adobe AfterEffects, etc).
- Software correction of the technical quality of audio and video content. Computer broadcasting of the SD, HD, UHD television program using the Playbox software.
- Subtitling and over-dubbing of film and video material.
Practical instruction (Problem solving sessions/Lab work/Practical training):
- Practical exercises follow lectures throughout the realization of specific tasks in a digital multimedia HD television studio. Practical exercises are carried out according to the laboratory practice manual. Students, during a semester, divided into groups produce a specific mini project in a multimedia HD TV studio.
