Goal:
Introduction to the basics and technologies of word processing, audio, image, video, animation and merging into multimedia product.
Outcome:
A student will be trained to combine multimedia content into multimedia work.
Contents of the course
Theoretical instruction:
- Digital and multimedia concepts and terminology, historical and technological overview of multimedia disciplines.
- Multimedia contents and forms, preparation of simple materials.
- Preparation, organization and production of simple MM products (text, audio, picture).
- Basics of photography and processing of digital images. Formats and compression.
- Basics of photomontage.
- The basics of multimedia sound. Shooting noise and dialogue. Digital audio processing. Formats, recording and compression of digital audio
- Fundamentals of the preparation and processing of MM text. Basics of typography. Text formats.
- Infographics, subtitle and animation of the text in the multimedia.
- Digital Video Basics. Formats, recording and video compression.
- The basics of video editing.
- Programs and procedures for processing, editing, sharing and archiving video materials.
- Animation and computer animation in the multimedia part.
- Fundamentals of digital composite technology and color correction.
- Project documentation and dramaturgy of multimedia presentation.
- Historical and contemporary aspects of multimedia. Perspectives of multimedia creativity.
Practical instruction (Problem solving sessions/Lab work/Practical training):
- Getting to know and working in word processing programs.
- Exercise: Text and photo self-portrait.
- Laboratory: a photo processing program.
- Laboratory: program for creating MM presentations.
- Exercise: Design of three-sided personal multimedia presentations.
- Laboratory: a sound processing program.
- Laboratory: preparation of MM sound for the final exercise
- Laboratory: design of MM text, typography and animation.
- Laboratory: preparing a digital image for the final exercise
- Laboratory: preparing a digital video for a fusion exercise.
- Laboratory: assembly of individual AV contents.
- Laboratory: preparation and organization of project documentation.
- Laboratory: creation of final multimedia presentation.
