Goal: To familiarize students with basic environmental problems as well as problems arising from inadequate environmental management. Insight opportunities through the implementation of environmental management elements and functions of the management system, as well as the integration of environment and development in the economic, social and political dimensions of society.
Outcome: Acquiring knowledge through which students are trained for implementation modern management models for purposes of environment protection, both at micro and macro levels of observation.
Contents of the course
Theoretical instruction:
  1. Regional and global environmental problems;
  2. Dilemmas and opportunities of environmental management;
  3. Establishment of Environmental Management;
  4. Overview of the functions of environmental management;
  5. Application management aspects of environmental issues;
  6. The impact of production activities on the environment;
  7. Protecting the environment from the impact of the production, transmission and distribution of electric power systems;
  8. Modeling system of environmental management according to ISO 14 000;
  9. Strategic approach to solving global environmental problems;
  10. Management of hazardous and non-hazardous waste management;
  11. Ecosystem approach in ecological management;
  12. The role of education and scientific research (fostering innovation) in the management of the environment.
Practical instruction (Problem solving sessions/Lab work/Practical training):
  1. Through practical classes, students will pass through case studies in which they will be able to use the acquired knowledge at the theoretical lessons in order to solve specific problems presented in these case studies.
