Goal:
Acquiring knowledge in the field of management, a modern organizational discipline, without which the textile sector would not be able to function properly.
Outcome:
Upon passing the exam, the students will be able to: describe and classify the functions of management; apply modern methods and techniques in management; analyse and make optimal managing decisions in any concrete situation which may arise in the modern business environment.
Contents of the course
Theoretical instruction:
- Introduction into management and product management.
- Defining management – term differentiation.
- Development of management thought.
- The types, basic principles and functions of management.
- Managers, definition and function.
- Planning – definition, levels, types, stages, mission, vision and goals of business.
- Decision-making – types and models of decision-making; the decision-making process.
- Organization – design, principles and the organizational structure of a company.
- Leading – motivation, leadership, principles, teams and teamwork, conflict management.
- Controlling – object, principles, process and methods, benchmarking. Strategic role of product management.
- The product management process.
- Analyzing a company's array of products.
- Product lifecycle and buyer lifecycle.
- Positioning and innovating a product that is already on the market.
Practical instruction (Problem solving sessions/Lab work/Practical training):
- The students are introduced to the elements of the course units through case studies and writing papers.
